The Power Plant Monastery

FS 2016 Oh' Lord

Pierre Zoelly wanted his design for the power plant at the autobahn interchange in Aubrugg to be an “infrastructural cathedral.” Yet, if one takes his dream very seriously, an image emerges not just of a cathedral, but an entire monastery. Here, the fragility of the line between profane and sacred may have even surprised Zoelly himself.
