The Käferberg Church

FS 2016 Oh' Lord

This church sheds the traditional masonry envelope and takes the entire forest of Käferberg as its enclosure. This move immediately creates parallels to the English landscape tradition. The liturgical elements of the church become figurative, stand-alone objects distributed throughout the forest. Without the definitiveness of the enclosing wall, it is not clear whether one is either never or always inside of this church.
